Wassaic Woman Charged With Burglary At Family Member's Home

AMENIA, N.Y. – A Wassaic woman was charged with burglary by the New York State Police after the resident of the home broken into called police saying that the person was still in the home.

On Oct. 4, the NYSP were called to a home in Amenia when a woman returned home to find that screens had been removed from her window. She contacted police while entering the home and found Kristi Ball, 28, in the hallway of the home. 

According to police, Ball is a family member of the victim and had entered the home to steal prescription medication. 

Ball was charged with burglary in the second degree, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police report that in addition to the prescription medication she was attempting to steal, she had several other controlled substances in her possession. 

She was arraigned before the Town of Amenia Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. She is due to reappear before the Amenia Justice Court on October 9, 2015.
